Treasures & Tales from a Week in Paris

Explore all the details of my Parisian adventure. Antique shopping, food, fashion & beyond.

I had the most amazing time searching through Paris’ antique and decor markets. From flea markets, art shops, to local vendors there was so much to see and shop for in the city. Outside of shopping for all things home, I left feeling so inspired by the artwork, architecture and endless beauty of the city. I wish I could have brought home everything I’ve found. But who knows… maybe there’s another Parisian adventure on the horizon soon!

My Favorite French Cuisine & Hot Spots

Obviously you have to indulge when you’re in Paris. From savory to sweet, here’s everything I enjoyed during my stay. (Images in order left to right)

  1. Les Deux Magots

Located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Les Deux Magots is a historic café famed for its artistic and literary legacy. Once a favorite of Hemingway and Picasso, its charm lies in its timeless ambiance, classic bistro fare, and iconic green awnings. A must-visit for a true taste of Parisian culture.

  2. Au Pied de Cochon

In the heart of Les Halles, Au Pied de Cochon has been a Parisian favorite since 1947. I’s renowned for its hearty French classics, including its signature pig’s trotters and onion soup. A vibrant spot steeped in tradition, it offers an authentic taste of Paris any time of day. The beef tartar was a 10 out of 10.

  3. Centre Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou is more than just an amazing museum—it’s also home to one of the best views in Paris. After exploring the incredible modern art, head to the top-floor restaurant for great food and stunning city views. It’s the perfect way to end your visit!

  4. Ladurée Paris

Even though Ladurée has locations all over the world, it’s still one of my favorite spots to grab the perfect macaron. There’s just something about their delicate flavors and that iconic Parisian charm that keeps me coming back!

  5. Café de Flore

Café de Flore quickly became a go-to spot for breakfast in Paris. I ate there almost every morning, savoring the amazing cuisine and coffee. Their omelet is hands-down the best in town! Be sure to get there early to beat the crowd and enjoy the magic before the lines form.

  6. Café du Trocadéro

I haven’t tried much more than a Nutella crêpe at Café du Trocadéro, but honestly, the real star here is the view. With the Eiffel Tower right in front of you, it’s the perfect spot to soak in the magic of Paris—and sometimes the cameras meal is more important than your own!

Finding Inspiration at Every Angle.

Paris is a city where beauty and creativity are woven into every street, café, and landmark. From the intricate architecture of historic buildings to the charming little boutiques and hidden alleyways, inspiration truly is around every corner. Whether it’s the art on display in world-class museums, the music from street performers, or the light reflecting off the Seine at sunset, Paris is a constant source of wonder and a place that fuels creativity in countless ways. Here are a few spots that left more than an impression on me.

Parisian Peculiarities

Staying in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés was an absolute dream, and I have to thank my dear friend Sandra Sigman (@lesfleursviasandra) from Les Fleurs in Andover, MA, for making it happen. This neighborhood will quickly steal your heart. Walking around was pure magic—every street seemed to have its own character, filled with charming wallpaper shops, incredible restaurants, and stunning buildings that inspired me at every turn.

One of my favorite things to admire are the oversized doors that are oh so iconic in Paris. There’s something so captivating about their colors and intricate handles. I found myself constantly marveling at the details that made each one unique.

Just a short walk from the apartment was Marin Montagut’s shop, tucked right by the Luxembourg Gardens. Stepping into his store feels like entering a whimsical wonderland. It’s filled with fun and unique gifts, each item more delightful than the last. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger and explore every corner and a perfect spot to bring home special treasures.

Another must-visit spot for me is the Jardin des Tuileries. Walking through it during the day feels like being in a free outdoor art museum. It’s perfectly situated right in front of the Louvre, with breathtaking views of the Arc de Triomphe and even the Eiffel Tower peeking in the distance. It’s so picturesque, it feels straight out of a movie.

For anyone who loves sculpture as much as I do, you can’t miss the Musée Rodin. This museum is a testament to the genius of Auguste Rodin, showcasing some of the most captivating sculptures like The Thinker and The Kiss. The museum’s gardens are just as stunning, with artfully placed statues and a sense of serenity that makes the whole experience unforgettable. An amazing spot for that perfect instagram photo as well.

But perhaps the most beautiful part of Paris is how it encourages you to slow down and just take it all in. I found myself frequently pausing, looking up at the intricate facades, soaking in the charm and elegance of the city. There’s simply no bad view in Paris—every corner is filled with something worth admiring. It’s a place that truly reminds you to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, the beauty around you.

Antique & Home Decor Shopping in Paris

I have to start by saying… I have experienced my share of of furniture markets and warehouses, but nothing compares to Paris! Again, I have to send a huge thank you Sandra (@lesfleursviasandra on Instagram) for giving me the inside scoop on the best spots to treasure hunt. During my stay, I was searching for a new online collection to feature on my website. I went into each venture with an open mind and open eyes.

Blanche Patine, Terre de Fer

After working for 5 years in the art, culture and communication market sector in Paris, Cécile decided to start her own business in 2016. In her workshop near the Canal Saint-Martin, Cécile Viarouge, founder of Blanche Patine, sells small treasures that she finds all over France. She is know for her Terre de Fer collection. Terre de Fer is a type of refined earthenware resembling porcelain, produced in France from the late 16th century through the end of the 18th century. Outside of sourcing, she has a gift for pairing unexpected patterns that create unique and inspired compositions.

In this business, it is always so exciting to meet someone with such passion and appreciation for the historic beauty of design. Stepping into this showroom, you can see the love and attention in every detail. She also has pieces on display from her private collection that will keep you in awe.

I hand selected a few really incredible pieces that will be featured in my next collection. These pieces can be used for decorative display or function. If you’re in Paris you can meet Cécile and view her collection by appointment at the Blanche Patine Showroom located at 29 rue des Vinaigriers.

Art & Print Shops in the City

Paris is home to countless print and original art shops, making it a haven for art lovers and collectors. These pieces are easy to bring home, as prints can be rolled for safe transport. Each shop is full of surprises, and you never know what treasures you might stumble upon—whether it’s a vintage poster, a unique illustration, or an original painting. Here are the details on a few of my favorite spots to explore!

  1. Galerie Martinez Fleurot

Martinez Fleurot Gallery at 97 Rue de Seine is in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It’s been around since 1973 and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The gallery is packed with treasures, everything from antique maps and vintage engravings to modern prints and decorative pieces. There’s something for every taste and budget, whether you’re a serious collector or just looking for a unique piece to bring home.

What I love most is that everything they sell is authentic, so you know you’re getting a genuine piece of history. There’s something special about exploring the gallery in person. If you’re looking for a meaningful gift or a one-of-a-kind addition to your decor, this is the place to find it! I scored two really coveted pieces from the shop that will be featured in my new collection.

  2. Baxter

The Baxter art shop at 15 Rue du Dragon is a charming little spot filled with beautiful pieces. This is a true treasure trove, with hundreds, if not thousands, of stunning prints and original artworks to sift through. Everything is thoughtfully organized by category: plants, animals, nudes, architecture, and more—making it easy to find something that speaks to you. It’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time, discovering unique pieces with every flip of the stack.

Marché La Porte de Vances

Just a short Uber ride from the heart of Paris, Marché aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves is a must-visit for antique lovers. I went both Saturday and Sunday morning and loved the authentic vibe, with independent vendors offering an eclectic mix of treasures. The silver pieces and artwork stood out to me, but you’ll find everything from vintage furniture to unique trinkets. It was here that I discovered so many fabulous antique pieces for my new collection—definitely worth the trip!

One thing to keep in mind when visiting Porte de Vanves is that nearly every vendor will prefer, if not require, cash—so come prepared! Also, bring a big tote bag to carry all your finds; you’ll need it once you start uncovering treasures. My suggestion is to do a quick walkthrough of all the booths first to get a sense of what’s there. Then, go back with more time and care to compare pieces and prices—it’s the best way to make sure you snag the perfect items at the right price. I can’t wait to show you my final coveted selections!

The Magnificent, Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen

The Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen is nothing short of magical. Spanning over 17 acres and bustling with over 1,700 vendors, it’s the largest antique market in the world and a true treasure trove for design lovers. Walking through, you’ll find everything from ornate 18th-century furniture and gilded mirrors to mid-century modern gems and quirky collectibles. The market is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique vibe and specialties, making every turn feel like a new adventure. Whether you’re hunting for a statement piece for a project or just exploring for inspiration, it’s impossible not to be awed by the sheer variety and history encapsulated in each item.

Even though I’ve been fortunate enough to visit countless furniture markets and design shows, nothing truly compares to the experience of Saint-Ouen. This market has an energy and charm that is uniquely Parisian, and you could easily spend days wandering through its seemingly endless aisles, discovering one treasure after another. It’s a place where the past comes alive and coveted collectables can always be found.

A thank you to my new friend Frank Adrian Barron (@cakeboyparis on Instagram) for helping me find my footing amidst the seemingly endless maze of vendors. Navigating such an expansive market can feel overwhelming, so going in with a plan is very helpful.

One of the best parts? The market is just an easy train ride from central Paris, making it incredibly accessible. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves antiques, design, or simply soaking up the Parisian atmosphere. I’m thrilled to share that some of my favorite pieces for the new collection were discovered here, and I can’t wait to see them find new homes. If you’re ever in Paris, set aside plenty of time to explore—Saint-Ouen is truly an experience like no other.

Now, looking through my photos and videos from the market, I am wishing I packed 3 more suitcases to bring home all of the fabulous treasures. But, when traveling I always want to leave wanting more - so this gives me motivation to head back and bring back even more in the future! There really is no where in the world like Paris and I am so grateful for this trip and experience. Want to see more of this trip?
